Space Camp 2009

The 5th and 6th graders are looking forward to their trip to Huntsville, Alabama to attend the ASTROTEK (Space Camp) program.  The dates for the trip are April 13-15.  Space Camp provides a wonderful opportunity for each child to experience a hands-on approach to the wonders of space!  The students will be involved in the following briefings:  Early Space History, Mercury Program, Gemini Program, Apollo Program, Space Stations and Pathfinder.  The students will tour the Smithsonian accredited museum where they will view original artifacts such as the Apollo 16 capsule, original spacesuits, real military aircraft, and actual rockets on display in the museum.  Students will also experience flight simulation training. They will ride the Mars Simulator, G-Force Accelerator and Space Shot.  They will test their strength, endurance and agility by scaling the crater of the largest volcano in the solar system. Many other adventures await these students as they study and experience space, from past to present.
